How To Prepare For A Professional Interior Painter

How to prep for interior painting

Painting the inside of your residence can do wonders for your overall home value and curb appeal. Rather than trying to do it on your own, we recommend you hire a professional painting contractor, such as Kaufy Painting, to take care of it instead. However, before we come to handle your interior painting, we recommend you check out these tips to prepare for our arrival.

To set up an interior painting session for your home, please call us today at 630-394-2500.

Move Or Cover Your Furniture

The last thing you want is to get paint on your furniture, which is why we recommend that you move or cover any furniture in the room where we'll be painting. You can put down heavy plastic or tarp to help keep the paint off without worrying about it seeping through. We'll do our best to avoid spilling any paint, but in case accidents happen, it's always good to be prepared.

Remove Wall Hangings/Portraits

If you have a lot of things hanging all over your walls, we ask that you please temporarily remove them so that we do not have to attempt to paint around them. If there are holes in the wall from nails and hanging hardware, we recommend that you cover them up with spackle (the color of the spackle doesn't matter since we'll be painting over it).

Put Away Knick-Knacks

You don't want paint getting on any precious ornaments or knick-knacks, so it's wise to put all these away before we start painting. This could also reduce the chances of a painting contractor accidentally knocking something over and breaking it.

Leave The Area Vacated

We do our best work when we're undisturbed. Please leave the area to be painted vacated during our session so that we can perform our duties quickly and efficiently. You can stay home while we work, but please avoid going into the room where we're working until we're finished.

Wipe Down Walls

Your walls should be completely cleaned before we paint over them. Any dust or debris that's settled onto the walls can make it harder for us to apply a clean, smooth coat of color.

Leave A Contact Number

In the event that you're not going to be home while we work, make sure that we have a way of contacting you in case of an emergency. Please leave us with your best contact number before going out.
